May 5, 2006, Newsletter Issue #35: Ensuring the Quality of the Artwork You Buy Through Online Auctions

Tip of the Week

The quality of the artwork you buy through online auctions can vary considerably, but with a little savvy research, you can insure that you are purchasing quality artwork. First, make sure that you are using a reputable online auction site -- a simple check for proper address and phone information, as well as a Google search for site reviews should suffice. Secondly, check the history of the seller that you are using. A reputable seller will have pictures of the artwork, and have a long list of favorable reviews. Lastly, you should consider the source of the artwork itself. Most prints tend to have pretty even quality, no matter where they are produced.

If you are buying a reproduction piece from overseas, make sure that they work has received no damage during shipping.
