Should I start bidding in the auction early with one quick bid?

One Quick Opening Bid

Submit one quick bid early in the auction to establish yourself, then wait until the bidding is almost over. Otherwise, you are just building up the bidding price against yourself.

or better yet, don't bid at all until 4 seconds to the time. I have yet to lose a bid on something I really want. Patience is the key. Put in a very high amount and though some might be scrambling to beat the clock and your bid, the time is short and you'll end up winning.
